Old Masters in a unique and beautiful setting
Sep 2019 • Couples
If you are a fan of 15th - 16th century art, don’t miss this gem of a museum. An old church has been renovated to display fabulous artists from Lucas Cranach the Elder and the Younger, to Hans Holbein and sculptors like Tilman Riemenschneider.

Incredible art and venue
Jun 2019 • Couples
Museums are not my favorite but this art museum was a wonderful surprise with its presentations art by German Masters. The paintings are incredible in revealing the style and religious emphasis during the 16-17th century.
The venue is a historic church that also is a piece of art as well with it’s wood triad framed roof. Not a large museum but well worth seeing and has an excellent selection of books.

Enjoy

Especially worth it if you never go to museums
Nov 2018
After having seen over 25 different churches and palaces in Germany, to see the art of the 15th century cleaned up makes you realize what we are missing out on in those old churches. The colors and details in the paintings and sculptures are fantastic.

Incredible collection of middle Ages
Aug 2018 • Friends
In this old, former Church, used for different things over the centuries, you will find - for free entrance - an incredible colleection of middle Ages church arts. I would definetely recommend to book a (short) introduction as they can point out the differences, whereas you will only remark differences, but don't know why. That makes it even more precious and enjoyable.
An absolute must do in Schwäbisch Hall.

It is astonishing. The sheer numbers of paintings dating from the 14th century is alone incredible. The quality of the paintings is another WOW. The beauty of the statues are impressive. I just don't know enough adjectives to describe this superb collection.
Don't miss it. It is free!!

Small but Stunning. A Must Visit.
Jun 2017 • Couples
This is what you get when you explore on foot and are willing to go down a narrow street or some crooked alley. A small gem of a place filled with wonderful collection of works by old German masters. They converted an old church into a museum to display one small, yet expensive, part of the Wurth collection. The place is guaranteed to amaze and best of all, it doesn't charge admission. What's not to like?

Renaissance collection in an old church
May 2017
An old church has been adapted to display part of the Renaissance art collection of the Wurth family. And an amazing collection it is! Not a big place but very much worth a visit. Note that admission is free. Note, also, that visitors must check any bags, coats or similar items before entry.

Stunning presentation of Old Masters
Aug 2016 • Family
Beautifully presented, these Old Masters are in magnificent condition and superbly exhibited in this old church. Intermingled with carvings, including from Tilman Riemenschneider - surely the greatest German Renaissance sculptor - it is a compelling and comprehensive collection. Remarkably, there was no entry charge, Highly recommended and a wonderful contrast to the Kunsthalle Wurst.

Absolutely Magnificent
May 2016 • Business
Without a doubt this extraordinary small museum of Old-Masters paintings is the polestar in the Würth collection. The experience is deepened by the quality of the architecture, the excellence of the presentation, and the intimacy of the space.

I missed the star attraction, the "Darmstadt Madonna" of Hans Holbein the Younger. It's out on tour. However, I will make it a point to come back to this fine museum again and again.

Fantastic Exhibition of 15th &16th Century Religious Art
Jun 2015 • Solo
This has got to be one of the finest exhibits of old master paintings that I have ever seen. I had just come from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and I was impressed by both the Johanniterkirche building and the museum exhibit. The church itself dates from the 12th century, and was converted to a museum just 5-10 years ago. The painted alters are astounding, and you can view them in peace and quiet. The center piece is a fantastic alter by Hans Holbein the Younger. Don't miss it. There is also a balcony which you don't want to miss; it is full of exquisite ancient woodcuts.
It is an easy walk from anywhere in Schwäbisch Hall.
