The ancient castle dominates the whole town of Meersburg - we could see it from our holiday flat in the lower town, and walked past it up and down the hill. It really has a spirit of ancientness. We've been round the castle many times before over the years, so don't always go on a full visit. We always like... More

The castle is very authentic, which is rare. Large number of rooms open to visits. The 1€ booklet is necessary for non-german speakers. We were alone visiting the castle on that day, we got a kind of VIP feeling. Views on the lake are amazing.

The castle provided an interesting view into the lives of our predecessors. The castle is well preserved. My cousin and I enjoyed the grounds quite a bit. The armory rooms and the hall of knights had some insightful artifacts. I could see some the price being too high for some but I thought it was fairly reasonable. I do have... More

Excellent historical castle and tour. Many items of interest in every room - even the souvenir shop. Well-presented notes about the history of the castle and its owners.

Small but very well conserved middle age castle aside the beautiful lake of constance. The style is more authentic that many other castles in Europe, without a commercial make-up, what gives it a real middle age flair. Try to enter with enough time to take also the tower tour (extra-ticket with fixed appointment) and to take a break at the... More

The self guided tour in this magnificent castle was marvelous. Included rooms lived in by poetess Annette Droste. The walls and rooms are historic and well worth seeing;

This is the kind of castle stories of knights and warfare are made of, complete with prisoner tower quarters and dungeon.

We tried so hard to see the Meersburg Castle, but there was no parking anywhere in the whole city, We looked for close to an hour, and by the time we found somewhere, we were far too far away to be able to make the trip back. I'm sure it would have been lovely, but that was a huge disappointment,... More

If you are in Meersburg you really have to visit the castle, and if you do so it is certainly worth adding on the "tower tour". The castle is very atmospheric and largely "unimproved" so gives an authentic view as to what the castle would have been like. The tour is well guided (the one that we did was German-only... More
