Worth a visit
Aug 2020
worth a walk over the Dam to see the view from both sides. Would also recommend a boot trip on the Edersee

Treetop Walk
Sep 2019
It was quite an exiting experience to walk that high (30m max.) above ground through a forest. Also nice to learn about animals living in the trees. But 8,50€ per adult is a little bit too much for a 250m walk. Dogs and Baby Buggies are allowed.

Unforgettable Summer
Jul 2019
That was a fantastic view while driving and we could not just passed by but to Stop and enjoy the scenery of the lake and see the historic Bridge.
Parking fee for Auto just nearby the street in front of "Edership Bootverleih" is 4 Euro for 3 hours and can directly pay in the automatic machine.
Never miss to rent a boat, that was so enjoyable self-driving boat ride in the lake.
35 Euro for an hour with an electro boat perfectly worth it!!! (have heard also lesser price but not sure for which boat)
Give also souvenir shops nearby, restaurants and camping place. A must-to-do list when you´re in Germany.

So much to do for everyone
Jul 2019 • Couples
Being the 2nd largest reservoir in Germany means there's a lot to do all around its shores. There's walks, a funicular, a castle (Schloss Waldeck), tree-top walk, tobogganing, ski-lifts, sailing, day trip cruises, wildlife park, National Park, camping, eating, kletterpark, archaeological sites and more. There's plenty of parking all around and it's not very expensive.
My advice is to do your research and plan your day(s) out properly. Be aware also that there isn't a road all the way a round the Edersee and it's quite a way round the Kellerwald (also worth a visit including the National Park Centre)
The dam itself and the town of Edersee are a must on a warm day and again there's plenty to keep everyone interested; the kids will love the "stream" running through the square.

Pleasant for Lunch - Not just for History Buffs!
May 2019
My initial interest in Edersee was for the Dam Busters history, but my daughter and I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon lunch and walk around the area. The view of Waldeck Castle is cool and we had a lazy pizza lunch.

Beautiful

Although it was cold and windy at the time I visited Edersee I perfectly enjoyed it there. It is a big lake with several places with tourists services, restaurants, boat rentals, hiking or cycling trails. Everybody can find what he likes. Just be aware that at most places it is not possible to pay by credit card. Even in the stores with terminals it sometimes doesn't work due to poor internet connection. So come with enough cash. Parking is mostly paid but not expansive ( I paid 3 EUR per day) and once paid the ticket is valid at several other parking places (but not all) - check a map at the parking for details.

Nice region

Due to weather issues, it plainly started to rain as soon as we got here, we just did a scenic drive. Nice enough area though worth a longer better weather visit.

Edersee Dam
Jul 2018 • Couples
A historical place to visit where you can walk along the top of the dam and take in all the views. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.

Superb location with lots to do
Jun 2018 • Solo
I visited in the early afternoon, and parked in the cheap car park. I could hear the laughter of children playing in the facilities on the other side of the dam quite clearly - they sounded like they were having a fantastic time. A group on segways trundled past and several cyclists followed. The range of things to do was large. I walked over the dam, but the museum had been moved to a more distant location, so I didn't see that. There were a number of outlets for food and some pleasant gardens.
