The impressive beauty of a large cathedral in a peacefully small church.
Jun 2019
This is a beautiful Baroque church with impressive artwork throughout. I found the statue of St. Georg slaying the dragon at the front to be completely captivating and unlike anything I had seen in other Bavarian Churches. My 9 year old son was very taken with it too, studying it for a long time. It's like looking at picture in a fairy tale book, but in 3D. The other artwork on the sides was very lovely and interesting as well. There is a calm and welcoming atmosphere in this church; it manages to be impressive without being imposing. On the hot summer day we visited Weltenburg, it was also a very cool quiet place to rest. There were many other tourists coming in and out, but it still had a calm and sacred atmosphere.

Probably one of the most beautiful churches you'll find in this part of Bavaria. Beautiful baroque style, lots to marvel with and learn.

Great side trip from Regensburg on a ferry down the Danube Narrows. Beautiful church with figures of St George and many other statues. This is a very different style than other abbeys. There is a brewery there on site as well. Great side trip from Regensburg.

Richly decorated and beautiful church

It is really impressive church and is worth to see, if you are in that region or if you are especially interested in churches. As a person, who is not used to visiting churches, I shall admitt that I was really impressed by this one.

Nestled in the Black Forest, this Abbey is extraordinary. With its wonderful architectural history, preserved artifacts, and mysterious light for the ceiling, we were treated to a special holy experience. Guides are outstanding and worth the 20 minute docent.
