Beautiful Palace

Bruchsal may not be the most famous of German cities, but the palace there is a very beautiful one in Baroque style. A small park completes the ensemble.

The Castle Gardens are not overly large and we didn't make it into the castle as we had a dog with us. Take the opportunity to enjoy this unique castle, then head into town for a coffee or something to eat.

Schloss Bruchsal in not a castle but a former Bishops Palace in English terms. Currently undergoing restoration, the main building is impressive and restored. We were treated to a guided tour of the mechanical music museum first and it was delightful. Followed by a guided tour of the main palace building by a lady in period costume. She was a... More

In Schloss Bruchsal, only a handful of rooms have been recreated after the damage of WWII. The staircase and marble room are truly stunning, but you're soon 'done' here. I also missed some more explanation of the history of the palace. There was no audio guide available and also very little text in the rooms itself. So it felt like... More

We went to a Chris de Burgh concert in the grounds of the Schloss which was amazing. The views of the Schloss from both the front and back are stunning - very reminiscent of some Russian palaces. The gardens are also beautiful and well worth strolling through at your leisure.

Many come from all over Germany and abroad to visit this baroque castle and the Balthasar Neumann Treppe (Staircase) is unique and one of a kind. The park behind the castle is perfect for a stroll around in nature.

I live near Heidelberg and was looking for another palace or castle to visit on my days off. Bruchsal is a short drive from Heidelberg, and once you get into the old part of the city, you are privy to beautiful Baroque-style houses and buildings that, according to my German boyfriend, date back to Napoleon's era. Old Bruchsal is a... More

We drove especially to Bruchsal to see the palace and we were very dissapointed that you can hardly see anything related to a palace, except 2 rooms which are nicely decorated but besides that nothing, no furniture, no ornaments, no explanations absolutely nothing. They do havea nice music box exhibition which is interesting but I am not sure if we... More
