This 15 century treasure is not visible now except through a window . Two many visitors in the past have put it at risk of damage but there is a video ( in German) which gives an extensive account of its history and shows all the paintings in detail .

Beware, when they say you can visit the actual room. You can see the (half lit) room from a glass bubble. They made a scaled fotographic version where you can watch a film and in between have a look at the picture walls. I can understand that they want to preserve the room from deterioration, but it should be mentioned... More

Beautiful building, beautiful views but the mock up of the devastation during the 2nd world war was very sad.

The Rathaus (City Hall) illuminates a scandal in this community that undermined the reputation of this Imperial Free City. Although a respected city in the Hanseatic League your may see and hear the story in an English video. Don't miss this interesting part of history.

this is the Old Rathaus used before the 1200s thru 1600s rught on the main square, with wall to ceiling paintings (1400's I think) that reallu should be seen, they will statr a flim about the painting and history in English if you request it. not a large building but very interesting, esp for those you love art or history

Those visiting this romantic medieval city must make point of walking up the steps to the Rathaus. Walking through those old oak doors at the top transports you back in time and you become one of the city elders about to take your seat in the small painted council room. The artwork is exquisite and has to be seen to... More
