Unbelievably stunning, challenging though

This was our first big hike during latest trip to Spain. We've never been in Catalonia, so it was very interesting to seen Spain from a different perspective - mountains everywhere.
Hike up Pedraforca took us about 3h one way and 1,5 h down.
Way up was pretty hard due to the steepness, but way down was more challenging because of unsetady path with a lot of moving rocks - had to go pretty slowly, took a few falls along the way.
The trail is very beautiful, first goes through the forest and then you come out and start the path to the top - there are some of the best views we've ever seen - mountain ranges.
Once you get to the top the payoff is incredible - there's a flat area, where you finally see the other side of the mountain & it is awesome. We brunched there and then went back down. I would loved to go further to the highest point, but I was the only one of 4 who was ready for it and would take extra 2 hours, so we decided to forgo this adventure. But honestly I wasn't even disappointed, because the views were crazy beautiful.
First hour going down was very hard, as you had to be really careful with each step. Once we got to the forest it was fast & easy.
I definitely recommend going to Pedraforca & experience it for yourselves. STart very early, pace yourselves & you'll be fine :)

More Challenging than you might expect

the mountain views are beautiful from the top but beware the climb up can be tricky. There are two routes and one is much easier than the other.
I went with a group who had little experience of climbing and we struggled on one of the routes as it was steeper than we had been lead to believe.

I would strongly suggest that if you don't have experience scrambling then I would take the easier route up and down as it is still a good climb. The steeper route is more treacherous and has a much greater risk of injury and is more physically demanding.

i did a hike up pedreforca with the above company trekpyrenees , the guide miguel had an amazing understanding of the mountain and of the various natural aspects of the hike, i found him to be an excellent guide safe with good language skills and an excellent sense of humour.the other people on the hike were an international crowd and regular followers of miguel and www.trekpyrenees.com. i wouldnt hesitate to recommend both pedraforco as its breathtaking or trekpyrenees and miguel as they cleary have the necessary expertise.

Beautiful Mountain Massive

We rented a house nearby called Cal Maineder with view directly to Pedraforca. The tourist information in Saldes was very helpful and we got maps and suggested trekking routes (three kids 11,8 and 2). There are hikes for everybody, the routes are well marked, the refugios are very nice and it's easy to get to the different starting points.
