Very historic customs and building
Jul 2021
This very historic customs and postal building was a key link between Sweden and Finland. Designed by the famed architect Engel reminds you of the historic center of Helsinki.

Impressive building
Jul 2020
The Eckero Post Och Tullhus building is very impressive. It rules the landscape but it's very beautiful. There is changing exhibitions and a small shop indoors.
Next to the main building is a side building where is a Kafé Kalesch.

There is also some kind of a memorial stone by the waterfront; it has nice carvings.

Nothing to do with the Post Office
Jul 2019
This museum has some interesting art work. Certainly the exterior of the museum is imposing and beautiful. But there is nothing about the post office or customs house. Even a small exhibit would have been enlightening.

A bit of disappointment
Jul 2019 • Couples
A German grown architect Carl Ludwig Engel once draw this stylish building to be the most westward showcase of Russian empire once stretched from here too all the way to Alaska.

There isn't much to see except this building and two information boards. One can find much more info about that special postal line in an exhibition on Jan Karlsgården open air museum near Kastelholm castle.

A special memory stone for the postal route is situated close on the cliffs near the water line.

Historically important building
Jun 2019 • Friends
The exhibition of the post and customs house was closed and the only part open was an exhibition of crafts from different islands on the Baltic sea. Surprisingly interesting actually and I really enjoyed it, even though it's totally not my cup of tea. There's a small shop with handmade souvenirs and a cafe that only serves one thing...

Eckerö Post & Tullhus (Post & Customs House)
Jul 2018 • Family
Beautiful designed old building. Strange with such a large building, so fancy, so spacious, for a Postal and Customs House "in the middle of knowwhere"... but a political statement from the time egen Åland and Finland where under russian and the Tsar's occupation.

There was a truly wonderful exhibition at this summer 2018. Of design & handicrafts of Åland.

Do visit and enjoy the cafe, Tsarevna.

Eckerö Post & Tullhus -quaint, local, and history Eckerö Finland to Grisslehamn Sweden
Jul 2018 • Family
Nice local museum. Impressive building. Beautiful. Strange and curious as to why it was built so länge and grand. The russian Tsar's furthest spot in those days.

Linked to the little village Grisslehamn om the Swedish side of the Åland ses, in the Baltic sea, it's more interesting.

How people communicated, how the risky tips by röding bokat with the mail sås done, how many died at sea
and so on.

In this summer, 2018, the museum har a most inspiring handicrafts exhibition. "Nitti". Anniversary exhibition. Åland 90 years.

Not Much to See Here
May 2018 • Couples
We stopped by here after getting off the ferry. The building itself is pretty impressive, but that is about it. There is a board with some cool historical information about the place and we toured inside, but nothing amazing. The cafe was also closed. We had more fun walking about the shoreline outside here then anything else.

Cafe is worth a visit
Aug 2017 • Couples
Museum had been closed for this summer (in mid August) so there was not much to see. This summer's handicraft exhibition was still open (free entry), but it wasn't related to Eckerö history. However, it's a nice milieu and Tsarevna cafe was great!

Totally disappointing from a historic perspective
Aug 2017 • Couples
My review is about the post- och tullmuseun, not for the historic house or the cafė which is Independent.
The museum is disappointing taking into account how rich and important this part of Åland's history is. Only ONE small room for the whole exhibition (side building) plus post master's room in the main building. The explanation in the side building all in swedisch, but in addition in old handwriten typo. So it was two ways hard to understand all. The entry fee (only three Euro) is a joke.
