This small museum is unique in the world , it contains umbrellas and parasols starting from 800 and collected here since 1939, you can’t misse it

Fasinating museum

Was touring in the area and was advised to visit this quaint museum glad I did now .
We all have umbrellas but do we know the history this is where this museum brilliantly tells the story with exhibits from the 1800 to present also on the 2nd floor is the tools of the trade and how to repair an umbrella.
A very nice lady runs this museum and if you are in the area please visit you wont be disappointed.

Many Thanks to Gentlemen At The Desk
May 2018 • Friends
We met a lovely lady from Sweden at the Alpine Cable Car and decided to make the HALF Hour walk to the museum. We certainly enjoyed site seeing all the beautiful homes and chatting with our new friend BUT this was like being on a stair step machine for over one hour. Brisk work out. No buses on Sunday and no taxi . Got to the museum which was interesting with various umbrellas under or behind glass display. Upstairs had exhibit with old machines of how umbrellas were made. Would be nice if there were old video clips to enhance the exhibits.
The Gentlemen at the desk was our savior! With no buses or taxi service I was ready to hitchhike before I would attempt that uphill hike back! This gentleman gave us a ride back and refused payment! I keep him in my prayers of Thanks!

Not for me!!
May 2018 • Couples
First of all, we walked from the Alpine Garden. We were told 20 minutes but it took a full hour.
The museum was slightly interesting, mostly for the popularity of umbrellas in the 1800s, and for the machines that were used to manufacture them.
However, seeing so many umbrellas and their handles cannot hold my interest.
Skip this one, even if it is raining.

interesting, but could use a makeover

As the day was rainy we decided to visit the umbrella museum. not sure if we would do it again.
+ good price, 2.50CHF pP
+ lots and lots of umbrellas of various ages
- whole museum seems old and a bit down-and-out, the sheets of paper with the information were at least 20 years old and already yellow
- we had to wait, as the museum lady did not open it punctual
- the information overall was not too enlightening, some interesting examples however
