Really enjoyed the town as a base for a ski holiday. A good choice of restaurants and shops in the centre with easy level walking. The ski area was easily reached by the Chavannes chairlift or gondola. Plenty of ski hire shops all within a short distance from the slopes. Our 9th ski holiday but our 1st time in Portes du Soleil and this was our favourite place!
Only negative was the speed of some of the chairlifts...they go at what seems an unreasonably fast pace. We saw 2 men knocked over and I have bruised legs where one lift hit me. If this matter could be addresed it would be perfect.

What a lovely resort. The Tourist Information Centre in the middle of the village were so accommodating with us. They informed us of what to do and where to go on arrival, helped with taxis, sorted out our lift passes, and were so polite at all times. Big thanks to Sebastiene and Andrea, who were superb - they're a credit to the resort!
The shuttle buses operate every half an hour and take you anywhere in the area free of charge. You can set your watches on their reliability. Brilliant resource.
Shops are reasonably priced (for a resort, that is), and the staff are friendly and accommodating. We didn't eat out much, so we used local shops to buy our food. The Carrefour in the village is well stocked, and sells delicious foods. We particularly loved the fresh baguettes, cheeses, and deli meats.

Tips- don't buy ski lessons online before hand- there are a few ski schools and snowboard schools around the place so shop around when here. The ESI -International Ski School - are much cheaper than the ESF. We got 4 hrs of snowboard (one to one) instruction for £200 with no hidden extras and a 30% discount on board hire in the shop next door.
Prebook a locker online in the Chevannes Ski Lift area ('Skicase' run it)- it is well worth it, as the lockers dry your clothes, boots and skis overnight. But they book out quickly, so do it online before.
We will be back next year

We booked the visit from the 16th to 19th December, specifically for the christmas themed events advertised on the website. Unfortunately, when we got there the resort had changed the dates to the 23rd and there was little open, whilst we appreciate there wasnt much snow this wouldnt have stopped the kids areas and christmas bits to be open. The christmas decorations only started to be put up on the 19th and therefore we missed it all. Very dissapointed! There were some restaurants open and access to some sledging slopes. Nothing else.

My wife and I together with our daughters and their families have recently returned from an excellent week’s stay at Chalet Valambrun, which can accommodate 10-15 people. The chalet provides fantastic accommodation set over 4 floors, including a cinema room (with 120 inch screen) and yoga room in the basement, an indoor swimming pool on the ground floor together with an outdoor hot tub.

Our grandchildren spent hours of fun in the swimming pool and we also took full advantage of the impressive cinema room. The chalet has been furnished to very high standards, including an amazing glass floor in the master bedroom with a view to the swimming pool below!

There is lots to see and do around Les Gets in the summertime with a variety of activities. We also visited Annecy and Chamonix, which are around an hour’s drive away. This included the cable car ride Aguille du Midi to the top of Mont Blanc.

In summary, Chalet Valambrun is an excellent chalet in a great location. Highly recommended!

There isn’t much snow which is not the issue. Getting a lift pass is just painful. Busiest time and 3 kiosks open. The process has not changed for years. It’s painful just watching the inefficiency of the whole process. Can only buy 1 day at a time. Frankly I wouldn’t bother. You can reload the cards at an automated kiosk so suggest doing that at 2 in the morning.

We regret to read that you are not satisfied with your stay in Les Gets and we have taken note of your complaint. Unfortunately, the weather is unstable at the moment, and we are obliged to offer day passes. To avoid waiting too long at the booking desk, you can top up your passes on our website www.lesgets.com. Thank you for your opinion and see you soon in our mountains!

We have visited les gets every year for the past 9 years and it never fails to feel like home! The skiing is amazing, with fantastic links to Morzine, the bowl and Avoriaz.

We travelled with friends, we all have children of the same age, older children (15) and younger children (12) There are many lessons available for children, and the older ones were able to all go off skiing on their own without us needing to worry about them as it felt very safe.

We visited some nice restaurants, including fondu, raclette, some ski bars and le tyrol. However, the restaurants get VERY booked up so sometimes it was difficult to get a booking, or just to eat in between skiing.

None the less, we come back every year because of how beautiful, fun and friendly it is.

Would 100% recommend

Les Gets is a smallish charming ski village, with some superb restaurants, excellent skiing and village sponsored activities that should not be missed. Do not miss the musical concert in the village church held once a week. My family has been returning here for a number of years now.

Its 12 years since our last visit, now we visited with our 15 year old daughter. Lovely village retaining its Haute Savoie traditions. We stayed at the Hotel Regina, although basic has great access to the slopes, lifts & shops. We all loved it, definitely be going back sooner than 12 years.

Les Gets is a lovely town, full of charm. The ski area of Portes du Soleil is just great and the connections are very easy. Only 70 mins from Geneva is hard to beat in the summer or winter.
