The ruins are quite extensive. There is a nice museum and you can get an audio guide to help you when you walk around the site. Morning is the best time to go during the hot days of summer

It is amazing what survives and is visible because apparently there is even more to be excavated. There are two (physically separated sites and both should be visited. Again given the number of tourists it is surprising the low levels of people within the paid...More

We have seen archaeological sites throughout Europe, and find this one of the best. [the worst is in Frejus]. We wandered easily through the two separate areas, both offering a view of Roman baths, forums, etc. Highly recommend!!

An extensive site with well restored remains, particularly domestic, but also a theatre which is still used for performances. Good museum with interesting displays

After Pompeii this is the most evocative Roman town I have visited. You really get a sense of how they lived in their villas and can walk down a 2000 year old shopping street

Wasn't too crowded. At the same time, not much to see if you've been to Roman ruins elsewhere. If you don't want to pay, you can see most of it from behind the fences. There's a good stroll from the main street to the Notre...More

What a fantastic museum and area. We had been before and spent just as much time on our return. We did not get the audio guide this time; we just wandered and enjoyed the gorgeous fall weather.

There are places in southern France where one can see large and astonishing Roman structures, but the ruins and museum in Vaison-la-Romaine may be the most comprehensive collection of household artifacts and remains of buildings in the country. The museum is well organized, and the...More
