We visited La Hermione last week as a family trip and it was rather interesting with many useful explanatory boards concerning the whole history of building the ship as well as concrete materials and working methods used. The ship is magnificent. However, it was a...More

We visited the site of l'Hermione. The re-building of the historical ship is very well explained. But our kids loved most of all the climbing "in the masts" (L’Accro-mâts) next to the Hermione, which is included in the ticket (in summer period)...

A lot of it was being worked on so didn't see much. Therefore a little expensive for what we saw. Ship is great, but perhaps view from outside for free?

L'Hermione is a reconstruction of the vessel, which took La Fayette to what now is known as USA. It is a working museum, for volunteers are stil working upon the further development of the ship. Plenty of history - well explained - a must for...More

Visited The Hermione ship and was impressed the work that went into it. The info about it is displayed very well and the ship itself is a fantastic achievement - well done to you all. We really enjoyed it

Better to visit this ship than the Victory at Portsmouth. A living breathing ship, a authentic reconstruction faithful to detail. 12 euro's to visit worth every cent. Very helpful crew who absolutely passionate about their boat. Really good to see things in the flesh as...More

Very interesting visit here. Easy to get parking. Reasonably priced but don't bother with the guided tour. Lots of great information (French and English) and some great pictures of the ship being built. The Hermione crew are available all through the exhibition and will passionately...More

Beautiful replica. What, however, attracted us most are all the shipbuilding works around - making ropes, fittings, carvers, carpenters ... I have seen some of the old boats or their replicas. But here, for the first time, I saw the construction of the ship -...More

Similar in a way to the Victory at Portsmouth in that both ships had a part to play in history, although this ship is a replica which took around 15yrs to complete. It has however sailed across the Atlantic to where the original took part...More

We were visiting in January so I suppose it isn't surprising that it was closed. We were able to walk around the outside which was something but it would have been good to go inside. Interesting play structure in progress alongside it - looked scary!

Should still be there, but she does occasionally make courtesy visits elsewhere. Suggest you check the Association's website. Not permitted to post this here, but if you "google" hermione you should be able to find the link.

Take ferry/cruise from La Rochelle to ile d'Aix, and ferry from Aix to Fouras. Or fouras-aix-la rochelle. Tourism office at l'Hermione can help ( she should remember me)
