Such a gorgeous gothic cathedral. Lots of baroque stuff inside goes really well with the medieval architecture. Only an hour from Paris, so makes a great day trip.

We walked over to the cathedral on the recommendation of our host - and were thrilled to sit and watch and listen to the projected sound and photographic spectacle that took us through the history of the cathedral. Magic! We returned the next day to see the interior. An amazing structure. Read up on it before going in if possible... More

Typical of it's type but very big. The height and façade are stunning. Well worth a hour or more. Pulpit is high and ornate. Much baroque tombs. The carving around the sides of the raised altar/choir is worth visiting for alone.

There are no lines to see this lovely cathedral. It is open to the public. We went in the morning at 8:00. and were the only ones there. While I stood on the cobblestone plaza in front of the cathedral, a local man came up to me, smiling, and said, "This is the most beautiful, no? Better than others." Yes,... More

A huge beautiful building. Really makes a statement about the house of God. Unbelievable craftsmanship. How they made the amazing statues and carving with no power tools is really thought provoking. Also a wonderful place to spend a few minutes inside just contemplating. So worth s visit

We climbed the left tower of the Cathedral and the view was beautiful. We could see all the little houses around and the other churches and little cathedrals. The full fare is 6€, and for young people (<26yo) is free. Then we visited the cathedral inside and we've seen lots of beautiful statues. But the most amazing part is the... More

We found this almost by chance as we looked for something to do on a Sunday afternoon. Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris or St Paul's Cathedral in London are often talked about and admired, yet they would have nothing on the sheer size of the cathedral in Amiens. The architecture is magnificent and we stood in awe of the architects... More

I visited the cathedral in December 2016 to watch the music, light projection on the facade and narrative about the history of the cathedral. It was one of the most magical experiences ever! During renovation of the facade it was discovered residues of the pigments used in the middle ages when all statues were colored. They recreated the whole facade... More
