The visit of the belfry (14-15th) will allow you to discover its rooms and espacially the 62th bells of its carillon which is a real musical instrument. Enjoy a panoramic, unforgettable view of the old Douai from the platform.

The great plus for this belfort is the great hall, with the walls covered in a large painting. This must be a hall from the town hall. Besides, as with most towers, you get an excellent view over the environment. It is nice to spot...More

Somewhat hidden behind the city hall, but easy to access through the doors. A must see in this city. Remainder of extensive wealth and ancient culture.

As you stroll the square in Arras, it is impossible not to notice the town hall and Belfry. Destroyed by the bombing in WWI, it has been rebuilt and is a beautiful representation of the flemish style. There is a small tourist office inside. We...More

A visit to Douai Belfry opens vistas on 14-16th Century local history, as well as literally lovely views from the tower top.

My husband and I were lucky enough to visit the Belfroi and have our own guided tour, which was just as well as I found the long third flight of steps very claustrophobic and only got half way! My husband and guide went to the...More

Even though we couldn't get a chance to go in, it was really beautiful to visit. Douai was such a beautiful town that I want to come back. I couldn't see that much because we arrived late but still it was very beautiful.

The belfry was recently renovated and thus a very good experience. It is only accessible by guided tour, so you should be on time for the announced visits (usually 10.30, 15.00 and 16.30). You can even play on some of the 32 bells of the...More
