Carefully rebuilt and recreated following the devastation from the second world war. Plenty of excellent eateries around the historic square. Excellent home for the annual Christmas market which begins in late november

It is a nice and lovely market to visit and walk around. There are some bars and cafes where you can stop and enjoy a bit of the wonderful Flemish architecture of their houses.

The square is full of bars and places to eat. We went on a Friday and it was full of all ages meeting for drinks and eating inside and out. We stayed in Arras for one night and really enjoyed ourselves in this relaxed atmosphere.

Just doesn't work like Place des Heros: this one is too wide, not enough life around the edges. No beautiful illuminated attraction like the City Hall on Heros. Maybe worked 400 years ago when there were hundreds of wool merchants. Maybe works today for big...More

I didn't visit at Christmas so don't know but I would think it will depend on each stall. Some will, some will not I suspect.
