It took us awhile to find this spot. A bit of a disappointment. Just a hole in the ground. I would suggest that if you want a leisurely drive in the beautiful countryside and don't expect too much, check it out

we made a road trip from Paris to Vimy, and along the way stopped at multiple craters and war sites. Arras, of all the towns offered us the most and this crater is amazing. the preservation of the site is impeccable.

This was such an unusual cemetery because I had never seen something like this. It was beautifully built and well looked after. Bless them all and the earth.

I had an interesting time finding this Canadian cemetery. There is no sign at the turn-off. Note: If you are traveling from Neuville-Saint-Vaast to Thelus, along the D49, take the turn-off to a construction site on your right, before you go over the bridge crossing...More

Saw this from the road as we passed, turned and went to visit. Well what can I say, after visiting both Vimy Ridge and Thiepval. This tiny tiny memorial is just mind blowing. Please visit and just sit quietly in remembrance.

Within a couple of miles of the 'Nine Elms' and 'Arras Road Cemeteries' worth a visit for a period of reflection. Very well maintained.

This is one of two Mine craters that was used by the Canadians for the burial of their troops that fell at Vimy Ridge, so it is a mass grave turned into a very moving memorial and cemetery. There are no headstones just the knowledge...More

Not a cemetery in the sense of having gravestones, the burials were actually inside a large crater which then became a memorial to the dead it contained. Located in the middle of nowhere really, but no less attractive a spot for all that. Immaculately maintained...More

The remains of a WW1 mine crater, now a Commonwealth War Grave. An interesting little stop off if you are passing on the A26. Also visit the Lichfield Crater, about a third mile north.

We are hoping to travel from England to visit Zivy Crater in 2017 to honour my 3rd cousin John Cooper Sumner who was actually 19yrs old when he was killed 2 months before his 20th birthday. We would like stay in Arras and hopefully get a taxi from there. Can anyone local help us with this idea.

You can certainly grab a taxi from the main rail station or from your hotel. However, I would recommend renting a car as it is easier and you won't have the time constraints to worry about. As for a hotel, I would recommend... More
