As reflected in other reviews, the site is imposing and impressive. There is however no guidance or interpretation on the site. We relied on what little information we could scare up from 3rd party sources on the Internet using our mobile phones . The site...More

I was surprised by the way in which the autorities form Arras combined the history of their city with the beauty of it. The Citadel is a very nice combination of a museum and a bothanical garden

Its worth a visit, the entrance and the walls are stunning but it fails to promote itself which is a shame for i am sure if the walls could speak they couls tell so much

Visited with four friends, the Citadel stands very well and is worth a visit but there is a lack of information in English. The day we went we were unable to visit the enclosure where the executions had taken place as it had limited opening...More

Vast ancient fort, now a UNESCO Heritage site. There is an execution wall within a section of the moat, which was chilling to visit

Interesting old fortress last used as a military barracks by the Germans. In the rear moat is a French National memorial to all those shot by the Gestapo. A very moving place.

We visited Arras in April 2017, so much to see we only managed a quick visit to the Citadel but glad we did, it is located next to the First World War Arras Memorial so we combined the two.

This is a hard one to write about. I expected more, and others have said, it is a large area with buildings in all directions. It is not close to the centre and it took a while to walk there. We found a nice chapel...More

As we were nearby we stoped off. A typical Vauban structure but not much more to see, certainly not worth a special visit.

5 minutes walk away there is an impressive cemetery Fauborg d"Amiens which is principally for the Commonwealth dead. My partner's great uncle has his name on the wall. We had a car which we parked in the large public car... More
