Interesting piece of engineering

Nice place to visit in a warm day - it`s interesting to follow a boat through these ecluses - one of the few landmarks in Beziers

First time on a canal boat and up the Ecluses de Fonserannes on the 1st day. The lock keepers were great, friendly and helpful. no problems at all.

We were advised to visit the Ecluses de Fonserannes whilst in Bezier. The nine lock's of Fonserannes, easily reached by a cycle ride on the Canal Du Midi, A masterpiece of civil engineering, well worth a visit.

It took me about 40 minutes to find this place as Beziers is like a maze. To my disappointment, it was closed for visitors and there was no information anywhere in the town itself to inform it was closed. Shame...

We wanted to go see these locks when we were in Beziers on a day trip. We followed the signs to get there, and arrived on a big unfinished parking lot. And it turns out that the sight is closed for visitors until summer 2017, because of maintenance! So it was impossible to see anything. I get that they need... More

Still closed for another 9 months, but still worth a walk from town along the canal as far as you can. Justifies a further visit in the autumn of 2017

have visited these locks several times before and took UK family visitors along last week to have a look at this part of the UNESCO Canal du Midi site......hmmm. building site actually and no warning signs until gou get there. It's all a pity as they have largely wrecked the site just to tarmac extra acres to host all the... More

There is a very nice carpark with good views over the town. Its free to park, and a lot of motor homes are doing just this. Tourist information office is open and full of usefull stuff and maps ( in Spanish ) No toilets that we could find though.. The access to the locks will be open in June 2017... More

Rather disappointed to find that having travelled to see these locks there was nowhere to get a view of them because there are major works to restore them at present. The new parking area is lovely and a boardwalk ramp will allow wheelchair access. Loads of people arriving and walking up the ramp but nothing to see as the site... More

Worth visiting for curiosity sake. Marvellous to work out how it was built, and congratulations to the ladies who made it possible!
