The outside is being cleaned, it looks beautiful! Over looks a large park, very peaceful. Great photo op in Saint Germain en Laye!

I've stayed in Saint-Germain-en-Laye more than once and love this town a quick ride to the west of Paris, and easily accessible by train. Although overshadowed by Versailles, 20-30 minutes away, the Chateau de St. Germain is beautiful in its own right and offers a bonus, as it is home today to the French National Archeology Museum, wth precious antiquities... Went to see the Merovingen gallery on Sunday 11 Dec - it was closed Phoned museum today (Monday) and was assured it was open this afternoon - took a taxi from Paris at great expense, to be told at the ticket desk it was closed. The museum plainly needs to retrain their staff in knowing what is going on -... More

While I did not have the chance to go inside the castle, our Sunday stroll across the garden was just perfect. The gardens are beautiful and well kept and they give you an amazing view of the city of Paris. The town looks lovely as well.

Disclosure: This review is about the park specifically. I did not go into the castle. The park is a huge park on the edge of the city, near the train and bus lines. They do have specific hours they are open, so be a bit cautious when planning the day. The park trails are crushed stone, not concrete, so be... More

We were travelling across Normandy and we chose this chateau for a picnic stop. It was a great idea. We paid a few euros for garden access only and had the small but well kept gardens pretty much to ourselves. Lovely castle from the outside, but we didn't venture in.

The Castle is unique by itself through its history and you should know its story to understand the French History. However.... (It is bad) But i will put the castle on the side to tell you that the best part is the castle park. DON'T (and I really mean it... ok except if you have never done it) go to... More

The weather was a bit cold that day, but the palace and the park was so nice. Around the palace there are a lot of shops, bars, restaurants so you can easily refresh yourself.

The castle lies in the city. It has beautiful gardens in which you have free entrance. Walking, jogging, biking, sitting or just relaxing everything is possible.

Why hesitate? I assure you that you will spend most delightful day in the town of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, walking along its many narrow, winding and pedestrian-only streets. And visiting the town’s National Museum of Archaeology - le Musée d’Archéologie National - and its park. The museum is in the chateau. The town is 19 kms (13 miles) west of Paris. It... More
