We selected this Pub/meal by 'online' for a location to meet friends, and we made a excellent chose. The pub was light, open, friendly and modern inside. My steak and pie was one of the best I have ever had, but, the toffee pudding is not to my taste buds ( you can't expect everything ).Overall a great experience and we will come again and will recommend the Fox to everyone we know

I had heard good things about this place. The dining room is charming with lovely cottagey windows. The staff were very welcoming. i eat gluten free and the good news first, they do gluten free gravy. But the roast ham was out because of the crust, the haddock mornay could only be done with a cream sauce rather than a cheese sauce. The specials board had a monk fish risotto and it was around £5 more than the rest of the dishes but it was gluten free. Monkfish was fine, crispy fried kale decoration was fine, risotto was like tinned Ambrosia rice pudding without the sugar. Tried putting salt on it, then it was like rice pudding with salt. It can't have seen any fish stock, wine, or any stock. Thought of adding sugar but occasionally I found the odd prawn in it. Onto dessert. I didn't hold out much hope but I selected peanut butter creme brulee. As a gluten free eater, I have experienced a lot of creme brulees! It was so thick that you could have stood a spoon up in it. Solid. And there was no brulee topping to crack. My fellow diners fared slightly better. The roast pork was OK. One person said 'dry' and another said 'tasteless' but they had great roast potatoes. They tried my dessert and pulled faces. What more can you say. I would have mentioned it to the staff but this was a treat being paid for by my mother. Oh and just to add to the experience by 1 o'clock various tables with children joined us. Some shrieking and running around their table.

We had excellent meals here on a very warm evening. My husband had the fish in batter which was a huge portion and I had a lovely sweet potato lasagne.

Waitress was in a bad mood which ruined our meal. Shame. Pub is normally great. No service with a smile last night though!!
