I have never seen something similar, it is special but not really spectacular. Depending on your luck, you may have someone who occupies the place and tries to offer some music inside. It is not necessarily good though.
An unusual bullet like structure, indicating the presence of a cemetery. Definitely worth a quick visit. A piece of architecture in its own right.
Suggest to read up a little of the history of the Lanterne des Morts before visiting. Easy to find on the Cathedral grounds.

There is not a lot to do in Sarlat, although the surrounding area is good. This site is Okl, but not a must see.
An interesting part of the walk around Old Sarlat. The story of the loss of life due to the plague is most interesting.
My wife frowned but agreed it looks phalic, but it is a wonderfully fanciful tower to celebrate the dead. Planned by a monk, so who knows?
Part of the lovely architecture around Sarlat near the Cathedral worth looking at if in the area. Though be caucus if not very steady on your feet as the steps are steep and the surrounding stone area not very level.
