Citadelle Calvi is up a steep climb with narrow cobbled paths, take water with you. Lovely views over the beautiful town of Calvi and the port. The beach is clean and scuba diving is very popular here. After the Citadelle we walked uphill to an interesting cemetery with the most beautiful floral tributes near Fort Charley. The information center is... More

Port and town offer lots of interest. We stayed at the L'Abbaye Hotel 3 star hotel. A 3 stop at Calvi is sufficient to experience the place.

This citadel is interesting, not as good as Bonafacio, but still worth while. You need to spend enough time to understand the history. Plan to spend at least 2 hours.

Definitely worth the visit. Beautiful views and very special atmosphere full of history and special architecture with cozy narrow passages. The office was not working early Saturday morning so we could not take the earphones and listen to the stories at the marked stations but it was nice anyway. It was a nice walk and beautiful experience.

Visited Calvi on a cruise. I heard how beautiful Corsica was and wanted to visit for years. I was disappointed. We walked up to the Citadel which was hard work in the heat but worth it. The views were amazing. We walked around it and then explore the streets and shops inside. Lots of bars and restaurants available. Lovely art... More

The Calvi citadel with its high walls from the edge of the water to the top of the hill was clearly visible from our cruise ship. This hillside medieval town was the main attraction in Calvi apart from the beaches below. The entrance stairs to the citadel were easy to find. Coming off the cruise ship tender dock, we kept... Good views, higgeldy-piggeldy buildings and alleyways but not too much else. Walked up in the late sunlight so the light was beautiful.

A must place to go when in Calvi. Terrific views across the bay. Check out the cathedral, very beautiful inside.

The citadel. Itself is quite impressive. Built in the 15th century its massive walls and stone walkways brings you back in time. However this is marred by the proponderance of shops and cafes selling junk.

Certainly you must go up there while in Calvi but don't expect too much! Lots of houses and a few shops. The little coffee shop opposite the Cathedral is a must though, the scenic window is worth sitting at with your coffee after the long climb up there.
