The castle is nothing special .
But the view is spectacular.
Morning and evening are the best moments to visit .
Take a Picknick with you to make it your personal memory

It was our unplanned afternoon trip. Beautiful, tranquil place. Worth the visit. Seems to be a favourite place for the locals to visit and family day out popular location. You can take a walk around the castle, have a picnic and enjoy the view.

Fun Afternoon Trip

What a great little place to visit. There is a short walk up hill to the remains of a castle (the draw bridge and some walls are still intact). From the castle you have a beautiful view of Germany and Switzerland and if you look close you can see the Rhine River.

There is some parking (free), a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy a meal or dessert and drinks, and some playground equipment for kids. They also have some goats for the kids to check out.

The outdoor seating area is large and has trees for shade. We ordered apricot cheesecake, strawberry cake with whipped cream, a soda and a beer and it was 13€.

one of the biggest castles in this region
Sep 2015 • Friends
Kuessaburg is one of the biggest ruins in this region (besides Hohentwiel in Singen and Roetteln Castle close to Basel). From the remains of the Keep you have a nice view over the Wutach and Rhine valley and the beginning of the black forrest. Else you can also walk around the inner wall. It is very interesting for little kids since you can climb also down to deep dungeons and kennels. The parking is close to a nice restaurant in a former farm. At the foot of the mountain you can find an old roman road. A hiking round trip takes about 4-5 hours, it is pretty nice through forrests and suitable for families.
