About
La Cantina di Fabio is an authentic wine cellar, operating since 1968 in a perfectly located area just out side the main city walls. Coming from the famous etruscan walls, “le Balze” and the church of San Giusto, specifically positioned to provide easy accessibility for foreign buyers, who can load up directly outside the shop. Without traffic restrictions, our unique cellar offers foreigners wine tasting and “operatif” hors d’oeuvre platters, but also we cater to high demand retail suppliers and can sell good quality wine by litre. Our main clients are restaurant owners and foreign clients who stock up while on tour, but also curious tourists who stop by to try local specialities, volterran products and try our wide selection of cold meats, cheese and organic olive oil.La Cantina di Fabio is locatedin B.go S: Stefano, coming from the famous Etruscan walls "Le Balze" and the church of S.Giusto, 300 meters from Porta S.Francesco right there, in a break while walking up into the historic center.Booking Tasting for group. It is possible book group wine tasting and buy products from our shop directly. We booked a wine and olive oil tasting with food here and we weren't disappointed. Nice little place, a hidden gem and a must do in Volterra.

Amazing hidden gem. Worth the 10 minute walk!!
May 2018
Amazing little gem hidden off the beaten path.....but well worth the 10 minute walk. The owner was so kind and helpful. Even with the little English he knew, he was able to tell us about these amazing balsamic vinegars. The prices were so cheap compared to buying it in the touristy areas. And the real balsamic was amazing. I never thought I’d be able to tell the difference, but it was truly amazing. He let us try little samples of 15, 20, and 25 year old balsamic. The also had great wines, jams, spices and more. If I ever came back to Volterra, I would return in a heartbeat. Don’t miss this place!

Grazie Fabio!! Così bello incontrarti!

Feel and taste the family passion for wine!

We accidentally found the small representative store of La Cantina di Fabio in the historic city and walked to the main shop afterwards. It's a lovely place run by Fabio and his grandson Matteo. Incredible wines combined with the knowledgeable, honest and also critical view of the owner made us stay for two hours instead of the 10 minutes that we had planned for. The store also offers delicious specialities of the region like oil, Balsamico and pasta. Fill up your car here before you drive back home!!
A presto!

Wine to taste
Jul 2017 • Friends
When you enter Fabio's Cantina, you are met by an array of goods but most striking are the stainless steel wine vats.
Fabio is happy to sit you down with bread and olive oil whilst you taste the wines. In addition to bottles, he will fill you 3 or 5 Litre boxes off your favourites on the spot.
An ideal place to fill those nooks and crannies in the car before the trip home for a little bit of Tuscan sunshine back home

Fabulous!!
Jun 2017 • Family
We went to La Cantina di Fabio today, Fabio was a such a great host, Matteo (Fabios grandson) was an excellent translator with our broken Italian. The food and wine was amazing and such great value for money. They had a huge variety of balsamic vinegars you must try the strawberry one! We will definitely be back and would be sure to recommend. Thank you for a lovely lunchtime.

Something for everyone

A wine cantina for bottles and sfuso wine, a delicatessen for salumi, cheese, spices, jams and chutneys. Also something of an Aladdin's cave for unusual gifts, especially around Christmas.

We always buy at least a wine box here, but usually a range of local cheeses and chutneys to take home.

This visit we had a degustazione of wines and food - absolutely top class and delicious.

It is a family business and you feel that a visit here has been to a familiar family - there is a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere.

This is the sort of place you can just pop into to pick something up, or linger and browse, talk to the staff and maybe have a wine tasting. Who knows! You might leave with good things to eat, good things to drink and just, maybe, something a little bit different to take with you.

Many visitors stay within the medieval walls of Volterra but this is a mistake - explore outside but still within the town of Volterra. This cantina is a 10 minute walk from the heart of Volterra in the contrada of Santo Stefano.

Almost missed this gem!
May 2016 • Couples
After two weeks in Volterra we read the reviews of Fabio's cantina and are so happy to have paid a visit on our last day! Fabio is charming and his grandson, Matteo, who speaks English looked after us.

He explained all about the different local wines, oils and balsamic vinegar, cheese and meats. We got there at 11:45 a.m. and stayed until closing at 1 p.m. We had 4-5 glasses of wine and a hearty meat and cheese platter as well as biscotti with the dessert wine for 13 euros each.

No pressure to buy anything but we came away with local oil, dessert wine, biscotti, balsamic reduction (with fig) and wild boar paté.

Don't miss this little place if you are in Volterra! It's outside the city walls but only a 5 minute walk from the Porta Francesco. His son has a shop by the same name in town as well.

Fabulous Hospitality and Wine!
Apr 2016 • Friends
We saw a flyer in our villa hotel for La Cantina di Fabio, and we thought it sounded like a great place. We set out to find it (it's just outside the wall) and we were SO happy we did! We were met with warmth and smiles from Matteo and he kindly set up a table for us to taste. Then the real fun began with tasting their wine (which is wonderful), other local wine, and local products of olive oil, meats and cheeses. Everything was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in their beautiful cantina trying all of the scrumptious products. We walked out with many goodies that we purchased. Huge thank you to the owners of this wonderful cantina for your generous Italian hospitality! I think this stop is a must for anyone visiting Volterra!
