This is a "birds eye" view of the restored property that was buried for centuries. You can only see it from the street level looking down on it. There are no tours available and it is hard to see the detail of the work, but...More

A picturesque panoramic view on the Roman theatre from within the city walls with the possibility to go down to the ruins.

Nice view of the Roman Theater. Not much details to see. You can have a good view from above, and do not need to go inside the gates unless you would like to see it up close.

The site is well preserved with some reconstruction. It is fascinating, especially if you have an interest in ancient sites. There are some information boards around the site. Worth a visit.

Definitely a place to see, although to me it was not very well maintained. Centuries of history and activities there, and they even transform/ adap, the place to a modern site to welcome artists during the summer season. Nice indeed, and very picturesque.

Worth a look around although not very much information at the site. Adult price €5 entry but if you have purchased the volterra card this entry is included. Very close to volterra city walls so easy to access if visiting the city.

I didn't know they had this large theatre here, so I was surprised. You can see it from outside both from the road, or from the city wall.

You don't need to pay to see this theatre as good views can be obtained from above (take the first left before the city gate). It's a breathtaking reminder of Roman culture with much remaining after two millennia

This site is smack in the middle of old Volterra, adjacent to the medieval city walls. It's a beautifully well-preserved Roman theatre. Well worth a visit.

Volterra is always a pleasure to visit. And, if you do, do not miss the Roman theater just outside the city walls. This is a fairly well preserved example of theater construction, with the scena well in tact behind the stage. If you are tight...More
