of minor interest
Jun 2021
as the Pinacoteca and Museum is included in the Volterra card, we gave it a visit, but did not spend really much time in here. it was of minor interrest to us.

Interesting museum with paintings and amber
Aug 2019 • Family
Pinacoteca e Museo Civico is a museum located in the old town of Volterra, a medieval city in Tuscany Region, in the center of Italy. It is a small museum, where you can see some paintings and, at the end of the exposition some amber figures (typical from the region). Nice to visit, if you walk around the old town.

Interesting Museum in Volterra
Jul 2019
I spent a day with a friend in Volterra as a tourist. We bought Volterra cards so we could visit all the museums, including this museum. Interesting museum with many historic displays of local interest. Collection was eclectic and the manner was display was odd, but... worth a visit if you are in Volterra.

Small museum with a few good works
May 2019 • Couples
Like the Etruscan Museum, this one suffered from a lack of signage to explain the works presented. Lighting was also poorly done, making the works difficult to photograph. The museum was small so it was worth the short time it took to walk through but is not a place one should consider a necessary visit while in Volterra.

Great collection for such a small museum
Apr 2019 • Couples
There are treasures of medieval art here - paintings, stone sculpture and more. Yet the collection is small enough that you can truly appreciate each piece.

Better signage needed
Oct 2018 • Couples
This museum, which was included in our 16 euro Volterra Pass, is a bit confusing to navigate. There are many small rooms which do not connect well. I suppose that is because this museum is housed in an old palazzo. There are beautiful religious works of art, as well as wooden statues and medieval ceramics. Two of the outstanding artworks are an altarpiece by Ghirlandaio and a piece by Luca Signorelli.

Great exhibition
Sep 2018 • Friends
With paintings and sculptures gathered from Volterra’s churches, mostly the works of Tuscan artists from 14th to 17th century, this gallery is well worth the visit. There are some exciting masterpieces on display here, but the building itself is very interesting too. The Palazzo Minucci-Solaini was built at the end of the 15th century, with many similar features as the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, and its design is attributed to Antonio da Sangallo, the Italian Renaissance architect.

2 museums in 1 because there’s also an alabaster museum connected
May 2018 • Couples
This place has 2 museums in 1 because there’s also an alabaster museum connected. We bought the €16 combo ticket that covers 4 different attractions.

Excellent art gallery in 15th century palazzo
Jan 2018 • Couples
Great collection of 15th and 16th century paintings. The Deposition by Fiorentino and Signorelli's Madonna and Child with saints are the standouts. Balance of other works and alabaster exhibition is worth avisit

If you only see one painting ...
Aug 2017 • Couples
See the Deposition from the Cross by Rosso Fiorentino. It is stunning and represents a transition to the modem style of painting in 16th century

Lots of other local religious art in the gallery.

The alabaster exhibition is quite good too
