You get a really good insight in etruscan culture. We visited under low season, bu can imagine that this museum also works well other times, as it is a museum with a lot of space that gives you an experience of being close to the objects without being in a crowd. From the museum you also get the bonus of... More

This museum is below the Borghese gardens, a bit hard to find, but worth the time. The collection of Etruscan artifacts is well presented with thorough signage, and the displayed pieces are stunning. Plan to spend at least an hour viewing all of the exhibits.

This is an extremely interesting museum based on what was left by the Etruscans, the mysterious predecessors of the Romans in this part of Italy. They were an extremely advanced race, and the area on building methods is particularly interesting

It may not be the biggest or the best overall presentation of Etruscan artefacts, but this is a very well put together collection mainly from a Swedish/Italian excavation from the mid 1960's to the end of the 70's. The focus on drawing the visitor into a better understanding of the development of Etruscan living from house building to life stages... More

I was not particularly excited by this museum. It had a lot less items on show compared to Cerveteri, Tarquinia, Chiusi, Firenze, Bologna or Villa Giulia in Rome. In fact I have to say that being such a big town Viterbo I expected much more. Visit those museums I mentioned above and you won't feel ripped off.

If your interest is in the Etruscans then this museum is a must. As ever, leaflets and guides in English had run out but the explanation and information boards throughout the museum and thorough and have English translations.

Don't miss also in this museum the explanation of the building of the etruscan roofs and the impressif biga with the buried horses.

I went here the other day for my drawing class, and was very happy with the exhibit. Even though it was pouring down rain, this place was still beautiful and full of incredible history. It has been renovated many times in history, and you are able to read everything about the museum and its history while inside. Their collection of... More
