The picturesque lake running alongside stunning mountains is a sight to behold. You must take a boat ride and with the Islands that adorn the lake.

Don’t miss the boat ! You absolutely have to visit the Borromean Islands! They’re gorgeous! My favorite is Isola Bella and its Palazzo with splendid terraced gardens where you can see beautiful white peacocks walking around, huge azaleas and majestic trees. Stop by the gift...More

I have to limit my description to the southern region of the lake which to be frank I found very disappointing, the area was commercialised but looked like it had seen much more prosperous times.

Laggo maggiore is beautiful in summer but we decided to go and relax in winter time. Even though many restaurants and museums are closed from November until March you can still enjoy the beauty of the lake and its villages. You can take a boat...More

Lovely tranquil and quiet, plenty of places to visit, by foot or by ferry. Ideally located near Switzerland, locals are very helpful and friendly, very clean and healthy place,

We only had time for the western side of the lake, but found a lot of beauty and thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days here - and ultimately felt that that was enough time here, before our trip moved onward. Highlights: - Cannero Riviera - this...More

Stuning views and villas everywhere... I prefered orta lake, though, less imposant and orta san giulio is definitively the most lovely place I've visited (besides Varenna and Bellagio)

We stayed in Stresa and drove to different villages along the lake. One place was Verbania where they have a beautiful and interesting culture center that we admired

I would go to Stresa which is a small resort town of 5.000 inhabitants with everything on it and good enough for Hemingway.

I went in late September and only needed a very light coat. If you prefer it warm I'd go in June/July.
