Beautiful little town. Amazing restaurants. Beautiful beach and views, best gelatos. This does seem like a hot spot for Italians so not many people spoke English but we managed somehow. Would definitely recommend.

Lots of shops, restaraunts, small bites and drinks in this little town. It keeps the old town feel. Definately not like your busier cities such as Rome which I appreciated.

Tropea is an interesting place to visit. The beaches are/were the highlight of our visit. The water is beautiful and warm. Parts of the old town are beautiful, but it is definitely a "touristic" beach town. Compared to other cities in Italy the food is...More

Wonderful old town with a jumble of streets and plenty of cafes and restaurants and lots of shops. Easy going atmosphere and friendly people.

Just the Tropea setting on the top of a huge cliff makes it wonderful. Once up, there are two parts, the newly residential one and the old one. The old town is simply beautiful, all in stone streets and houses with nice churches, secluded restaurants...More

Wonderful city to visit! Beach is magnificent. City is clean, people are friendly. The train station is relatively close. The trains hover going to other cities are somewhat infrequent especially to the vera south end of Italy such as reggio Calabria.

I'm a woman, travelling alone. Yesterday I visited Tropea and I find it perfectly safe. No refugees in sight.

Yes, I agree. May is very nice in Tropea, so I would at least plan for the end of April (or May if you can). April things like the beach will still be closed and some stores will not yet be open. The weather won't be cold... More

Tropea is by far the most reasonably priced area I have ever visited in Italy. I highly recommend Ristorante Pizzeria Gargano (It isn't just pizza - though their pizza is excellent), Gelateria del Borgo (Try the Tres... More
