If you are out and about in the area, do not miss this place. It has been extensively restored to a high standard (as everything in the area...) and is and enjoyable 2 to 3 hour visit. The short walk from the village (where you need to park the car) is easy, and one of stunning beauty. If you have... More

Park your car in the car park along the main road, just after the center. Then take a nice 15 minute walk to the castle along a "boulevard" and through a narroe tunnel. The castle itself is open from April to November, but there is a nice view even when the castle is closed. There is also a small farm... More

It has been ages since I visited this old castle with the most stunning view over the Etschtal. I was blown away how beautiful the castle had been renovated and how interesting the museum is. I would definitely classify it as a must see when in the area. The only criticism is that whilst everything is labeled in German and... More

Very historical castle overlooking Merano, it does take some effort to walk to. The interior(museum) is good, but not great. There is very little English captioning so the audioguide is helpful. The chapel was the highlight for me.

we visited the castle because I was interested in learning more about the place that gave the name to the entire region. The castle partially reconstructed in the XIX century provides some treasure dating to its foundation in the middle age. a visit to the town and the castle is recommended

The castle is well sign posted from the Dorf Tirol area and is an easy walk from the town. It also links in to other castles and churches nearby. The walk to the castle allow fabulous views and the castle is very photogenic. Walk on past it to view it from a different angle. The entrance fee is reasonable and... More

The view of the castle walking to it from Dorf Tirol is beautiful and picturesque. Continue past it for a different view perhaps before going in. This is a popular venue for families and larger groups with guided tours to be arranged. Reasonably priced

Very nice castele looks like in medieval times. It is renovated and there is good exposition of South Tirol history. The are around the castle is also very nice. It tookes some 3 hours to visit it with children. The exterior is famous , the interior is really historical but it was under reconstruction (or preparing some exhibition) when we... More
