This imposing structure was built in the 1920s to generate power from Lake Ledro which is channelled through a pressurized tunnel in the rock. The architect behind the project was Giancarlo Maroni. The numen aquarum on the facade was the work of the sculptor Silvio Zaniboni.

On the face of it this seems a most unlikely tourist attraction. But for ‘him’ and ‘her’ it combines stunning 1930s architecture on a grand scale, moments of wonder in the huge blasted-out caverns and tunnels inside the foot of the mountain, and excellent interactive...More

This power station is adjacent to theharbour and could hardly be missed and it's supply pipes run down the mountain side to this rather imposing double fronted building on the other side of the road to the harbour. It had an "Open Today" sign at...More

Standing by the side of the lake we initially thought that this building was another Hotel. It blends into the area so well and you would not expect to be told that it is the Hydroelectric power plant

But it will not cost you anything to stroll along from the ferry port for a bit. I think that sometimes you can visit it but it was not open when we went.

Yes, agree with previous reviewers, very beautiful art deco building. One can only ask 'why?' It's quite a stunning building, tucked away in a shady corner of Riva.
