About
Formerly called Piazza Granda and then Piazza Benacense, this piazza is the heart of both the old and modern town. It is the location for the Office of the Podestà and the Town Hall, the Torre Apponale a several houses of the nobility. The arcades dating back to the period of Scaligera rule, which close off the piazza towards the harbour and the lake, used to house the markets and shops.

Lovely piazza
Sep 2021 • Couples
Lovely town square, very picturesque with the mountains and lake, loved walking through it all. Plenty of good places to eat and drink and not too busy like a lot of other lake towns. Free parking a short walk away from the centre too

Such a beautiful Piazza !!!
Apr 2019
Riva del Garda is at the north end of Lake Garda, next to the lake and surrounded by mountains. The piazza is right next to the lake and there are coffee shops and restaurants all around and surrounded by mountains, it can't get better than that !
Beautiful place to visit or to spend a week there as a base to visit all the towns bordering the lake and the hilltop towns nearby some of which have a huge Austrian influence like Bolzano for example. I absolutely love this area!

Lovely town on edge of Lake Garda
Oct 2019
We were staying at Malcesine for a week on an organised tour of the Lake Garda area and one day we were taken to Riva Del Garda for a few hours. I think that it was the nicest of all the towns bordering Lake Gada that we saw during our stay. One thing that we did that cost very little indeed was to take a trip on the tourist 'train' that does a circuit of the central area. I think that it cost only 2 Euros to each and lasted about 40 - 45 minutes. We saw a lot that we visited later in the day on foot.

Beautiful Square
Sep 2019
We stayed recently just outside the square in the old town. This little square has many restaurants and bars. Fabulous ice cream. It was lovely to sit during the evening listening to guitar playing, drinking an aperol spritz. We also went up to the top of the clock tower for just 2 euros with a fabulous view over the city. There always seems to be something going on in the square. We saw a vintage car rally whilst we were there. Beautiful place where I could easily return to.

Quaint, colourful, bustling square by the lake.
Sep 2019
All around this square are little pedestrian avenues full of shops, restaurants, bars, pizza cafes and of course.........gelato parlours.
It’s also the place to catch boats to other parts of the lake. We visited Limone which is approx a 40 min trip. Cost €15 return. Boat to and from every hour.
The square is nice in the evening to sit and watch the hustle and bustle, street entertainers and on 2 occasions beautiful weddings with a nice glass of wine in hand.
Enjoy and Cheers! 🍷
