Very impressive contemporary art collection
Jan 2018 • Couples
Especially from 80’s and 90’s, also beginning of this century. One of the largest I have ever seen. And very well exhibited.
The best place to visit in Reggio Emilia.
Mostly works from Italian artists (Arte povera; Arte concetuale; Arte minimaliste) and American artists; some Germans. Nearly no street art.

Careful: you have to book your visit in advance!

A very fine collection of contemporary art
Sep 2017 • Couples
This is a very fine museum in a repurposed factory that is very well suited to the contemporary art within. There are good examples of works by major contemporary artists known worldwide and a comprehensive collection of works by artists Americans have probably not heard of (there were several American artists represented that we were not familiar with). These latter are a little mixed in quality, but worth a look by anyone interested in the genre.

Be mindful, however, that you can't see any of the collection without taking the guided tour-- so book in advance. The problem with the tour is that you have to go at the pace set by the guide and this may be either too fast or too slow for you. We got completely exhausted and it wasn't a help that one had to leave all bags behind and that there were no toilet facilities readily available, nowhere to sit down, nor anywhere to get a drink of water. A couple of hours standing without water can be hard for older people.

An Amazing Eclectic Collection

I have visited the Maramotti Collection twice. The docent on each visit was professional, expert and full of stories. The Collection (modern art) might not seem interesting but I found it captivating. The location, the building and the collection combine to make it a "must see" if you are at all interested in art.

A hidden gem
Feb 2016 • Friends
The collection hosts numerous well-known modern artists from Europe and the US from the 1960s until today. It is a must-see for anyone interested in modern art. The museum can only be visited with a guided tour which is in Italian. Our guide was very knowledgeable and could provide extensive information on request, thus enriching the visit. The visit takes 2,5 hours which is needed to really indulge into this rich collection. And it is for free.

When the patronage gives luster to a small town, it enriches everyone

Accessible to everyone, without doubt, Collezione Maramotti represents a cultural event not to be missed for all those who have the opportunity to travel in Italy. It was a unique and exciting experience that I would recommend to all. The exhibitions can be visited, free of charge, every days except on August! Enjoy,
