Fascinating guided tour
Jul 2021 • Family
This site is magical and wonderful. The ruins are beautiful and fascinating and surrounded by the sea. (Lovely beach nearby). The guided tour is cheap and completely worth it - explains the history of the ruins, their use and stories as well as the fascinating history of Sardegna. Also mentioned useful advice on other places to visit in Sardegna - was funny and entertaining!

Fascinating ruins
Sep 2020
The parking is shared with that for the beaches so can get very busy and there is a small fee for the pay and display. The site itself was very good, when we went in September you did not need to engage a guide and the information boards are in Italian and English. The excavations are well presented and very interesting and there is a nice little cafe by the entrance. Well worth a visit and a nice change from the beach.

Badly organised

You have to pay for parking and the entrance fee. It ist only allowed to visit the site with guide. ( other information on the website). After 5min walking from the parking lot you reach the ticket counter. There you get informed that you have to wear a mask to buy the tickets. No information about this on the Parking lot. This could have easy been avoided by a sign on the lot or by Measures at the ticket counter. My advice only visit if you have plenty of time, otherwise skip it.

Guided tour in Nora
Jul 2020 • Family
We enjoyed our tour guided by Andrea. Every year more and more of the city is visible so it’s a good idea to come back and see it again after some time 😊

Very interesting visit
Jul 2020 • Family
Very interesting visit. The site is beautiful and everything is very well explained. I would advise to do the tour with a guide because it allows you to understand in much more detail and to ask questions. Andrea was an excellent guide!

Roman ruins on the seashore
Feb 2020
We visited the Roman ruins of Nora, at Pula, outside Cagliari with a personal guide called Renato, who was booked via InsideSardinia. He also drove us there from Cagliari, picking us up at our hotel. The site was beautiful in the sunshine, next to the clear blue sea, on a quiet off-peak day, and very serene. Our guide was very experienced and helpful, telling us all about the site, the life and times of the Romans, in English. The site is spread over a large area, and did not have much on-site signage in any language, so a guide is needed. The site also includes a spanish invasion period lighthouse. There is a cafe, gift shop.

One of the best around Casteddu
Sep 2019
Nora's archeological zone is one of the best archeological zones around the south of the island. I highly recommend it, it does not require you to be fit, it is a nice and flat area. English tours are just fine and understandable.

Beautiful site, though parts were inaccessible.
Feb 2020
This site is a must-see for the southwest, and you get breathtaking views on the drive to Pula from Cagliari, which are a bonus! The entry fee is a touch steep, but there's an excellent free app (do download it--NorApp!) which gives you a guided tour and additional information about the various points of interest, including 360 views. When we visited, there wasn't an English-speaking guide available, but the app really was excellent. Still, it would have been nice to be able to ask questions. This isn't likely an issue in the off season.

While the site itself is actually surprisingly accessible for particularly strong wheelchair users (and easily accessible for prams), with a nice traction grid walkway, it's a bit of a trek from the parking lot for anyone with mobility issues, and the site itself is (unsurprisingly) hilly, and isn't paved.

The walking path takes you past a ubiquitous Spanish tower (not accessible--much to my father's disappointment!) and through the site itself, explaining both its pre-Roman and Roman remains. Many parts of the walkway which are normally available were closed in the off season for what I presume were surfacing repairs, which was disappointing. The signage could have been better: for example, rough overview maps of the area you're in front of, with rooms/ruins marked accordingly. All the signs were very informative, in fact the most informative of our entire trip around the south of Sardinia. They include fascinating tidbits about the function of the baths, the type of proto-concrete used, etc.

The gift shop was perfunctory, and there were no English-language or bilingual books about this fascinating site (though some very good Italian books are available).
