About
Pozzuoli is billed in travel books as being a town filled with archaeological sites. When one arrives in Pozzuoli one is greeted with litter, bad signage, and several easy-to-find archaeological sites which are overgrown with weeds and covered in...more

Fascinating-looking place, right near the ferry terminal: apparently not a temple at all but was in fact a Roman market complex. (2000 years later still somewhat more elegant than the present-day market a stone's throw away!) The reason it is not publically accessible, presumably, is...More

The best description of the place is in the Napoli Unplugged book, there is a small placard that I think is only in Italian on site. You can't access the actual ruins, and there's often water in them thanks to Bradyism. Nice place to look...More

How lovely to see the temple and all the structures around it. I don't know if you can walk down among the ruins but from above you can get a very good feel about this place. There was very little water on the day we...More

We had downloaded information on the place before visiting, which was well as there was nothing on site. The site is well preserved and presented though sadly not accessible. However, there are excellent viewing spots around. The relationship of the site to the bradyseism affecting...More

Deliberately left this to last before walking back to the Metropolitana station.Glad I did. Having explored the wonderful amphitheatre then a brilliant tour of Rione Terra and a lovely walk through the old town and down to the port, I was expecting slightly more. This...More

This is a very small venue with one placard of explanation in Italian only. You can stop here for three minutes, snap a photo, and be on your way. Nothing special at all.

Lovely bit of history right near the port. When we visited in early September there was only one other couple looking and photographing this interesting site. And very nice places to eat all gside it.

Great place to have lunch or even better dinner in one of the cafes around it. You can also see the effect of bradyseism common to the surrounding area.

I have seen a lot of Roman ruins over the years, and while nice enough these are nothing I would ever go out of my way to see. Temple or marketplace, this is a relatively small site which is worth spending ten minutes viewing if...More
