we found this by boat and it is beautiful. while the blue grotto in capri is a must for the "check list" this grotto is equally beautiful and has more to see inside without all the cost and touristy waits.

Skip the Blue Grotto if you do not want to wait potentially hours for a one minute experience and go here. Very friendly guides, only 5 Euro, you get the"solo mio" singing experience, and water is same beautiful as Blue Grotto. Smaller than blue grotto...More

I preface this by saying I have not been to the Blue Grotto (and don't intend to) but this was definitely worth a look as an alternatively to Blue Grotto. I think it is accessible by land, but we were on a full day boat...More

Decided on this tour at the last minute. The boat ride to the grotto was quite nice. Paid the 5 euro each to get into a boat with 19 others and off we went around an area less than the size of an Olympic swimming...More

Just relax around one hour and enjoy in a interesting place from Positano. You can take an elevator from the coast road down to the grotto, or you can drive to Amalfi and arrive by boat (€10, excluding the grotto's admission fee). Arriving inside, you...More

Was worth seeing though it was just a brief look. Boat operator was very cheesy and irritating with his constant "itsa miracle" and then asking a few times for a tip. Could be done better. Would have preferred more information and time to enjoy just...More

Did this to see a grotto ... you are only in it 5 to 10 minutes but worth doing . And the boat men are as mad as hatters singing away to their hearts content hoping for a BIG tip !!

It is a very nice place, but the way they explore it turns it into an unpleasent experience. Lines of tourists to go into a small boat for 10 minutes. If you want to see nice grottes, there are many other that you can see...More

It is a small cave with nothing special. It takes no more than five minutes to look at it. Does not worth the time/money.

Shouldn't be a problem to leave them with an attendant.

When visiting the grotta della smeraldo, do you have to take the boat? Are you able to walk inside and view it by foot? We have a child with us so would prefer to avoid the boat if possible... Also, is there parking nearby?
