Was here for the Giostra Del Orso, which is well worth coming to if you’re here on 25 July. It’s a fantastic and engaging event. Even without the jousting, the piazza is a pleasant place to spend some time.

Of course very touristic, but the views on the square are incredible. Highly recommend climbing the duomo. Make sure to book online way in advance to skip the +3 hours line, since they work with time slots allowing a limited amount of people each 30...More

We took a train to Pistoia and spent a pleasant few hours exploring the town. the heart of the town is the Piazza, the Cathedral and Duomo and the Baptistry. A very ancient town with it's own charm but without the hordes of tourists.
The piazza with Duomo, Baptistery and Palazzo Communale is stunning but unlike Florence and Pisa was almost empty of tourists.
You can park around the Piazza Garibaldi and then have a 5-10 minute walk through the delights of the back street.
