It was evident that very few people visit the museum but still the staff was very friendly and the museums is kept well and clean. Some of the paintings are very interesting and worth a visit, however there is no masterpieces. If you have time and is interested in art, visit

Being over 60 this museum is free of charge, or else a few EUR. If you expect a Florence type super museum you are not satisfied here. But we enjoyed a rather extensive collection of paintings from the 12th to the 19th century very much and would recommend it to people who are ready to slow-down and enjoy Pistoia in... More

Located in the centre of town this museum is key to understanding the area and especially the duomo. Guided tours, in English and Italian, cost a few euros with staff that are very knowledgeable. There is also a section of the museum that is in braille for the sightless. Our tour took a little over an hour and I felt... More

Pistoia is a lovely little town and this museum is well located in the centre. It is not large and only takes a short time to visit. A well -trained and informative guide is assigned to take you around. Tour times are on the door. If you're only in the town for a short time, you'll still have time for... More

The building itself is great, a real eye catcher when you enter the square. We did go and see the museum. Some nice paintings and Marquette of well known buildings. Only when you visit the museum, you can also make pictures out off the window of the front of the building. You get a great view of the square from... More

We were in Pistoia for a day trip from Lucca, and after the Duomo we were quite taken with the building, the Palazzo del Commune, that houses the Museo Civico in the same piazza. The building itself is stunning, and we wanted to see the inside so we decided to spend some time in the museum. We were pleasantly suprised!... More

Not the Uffizi, but this small museum owns a rare Coppo di Marcobaldo, one of the earliest painters to adapt the style of Byzantine art. It's remarkable. See it if you can avoid Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays when they are closed.

This seems to be a museum of leftovers. Some decent Jesus & Maria's on the ground floor. Do check out St. John making a heavy metal 'death wish' hand gesture on the first triptych, right after the entrance. Hilarious portrays on the third floor: ugly women, fat men, even a smiling man with bunny teeth. Overall: depressing.
