Enjoyable but Hot
Jun 2019
We happened to go on one of the hottest days of the year--it was well over 100 F. But we enjoyed our time there. It is fairly easy to find, though out in the country a bit. Many of the animals were not doing much due to the heat, though the penguins were active (they were African penguins, however) as were the otters. Unfortunately, the elephant was in its barn. The reptile exhibits were in an interesting building. There is a good restaurant near the entrance (which we visited). Parking is easy. Admission was not expensive. They give you a good map with admission, and the park is well marked. This is not a fancy zoo--it's closer to three stars than five stars. But we had an enjoyable time except for the heat.

Appealing zoo!
Feb 2020
This was a very nice acquaintance, specially for children but also for adults! There is a cafe open all year and a restaurant on certain months (?), but a recommended thing is to prepare your own picnick-food, because there are many nice tables here-and-there suitable. You can easily spend a few hours here, enjoying many animals and an abundant vegetation. To reach the zoo, take a train to Pistoia and a taxi in front of the station (13 euros).

Excellent experience especially for kids!
Aug 2019 • Family
It is small though it is really nice. It is in the woods and this makes the experience much better. The animals look better in such a natural environment compare to other more artificial zoos. I strongly recommend it if you have young kids.

Nice little zoo
Oct 2018 • Family
We visited the zoo on a sunny afternoon in October with our 3year old.
The entrance fee is reasonable and there was enough parking close to the entrance.
There are many animals, from horses to elephants. Some of them, including the giraffe, you can feed (0.20€/per portion). There is a nice playground where you can sit and have a picnic. Well worth the money, we had a great afternoon.
We had lunch in the restaurant, very childfriendly and fairly priced. Would recommend.

Well Worth A Visit With Children - Pistoia
Sep 2018 • Family
My family attended at the Pistoia Zoo on 29 September 2018. We arrived shortly after 0930 hours and would have been the first people on the zoo all day. Our first impression was highly disappointing and quite frankly rude and disrespectful. The man at the ticket booth decided it was more important to take a personal phone call for almost 5 minutes then acknowledge us and allow us to purchase tickets. Once in the park we were all surprised by the large number of animals, many we have never seen before at a zoo. Our 2 year old son loved our visit and really enjoyed being able to feed the goats. Highly recommend this if in Pistoia, we’ll worth the visit. Would have got 5 stars, other then the rude bloke at the ticket office.

One of the best days in our holiday
Aug 2018
A train from Florence to Pistioa and then we took a bus to the zoo. This place is a heaven on earth were you can see a lot of animals. Unlike other zoos i have visited, these animals have a lot of space to roam around. Its an ideal place to take the children with you as there is space to play.

The only draw back is that the buses does not pass frequently to Pistia and if you miss the bus there is about 1 hour walk.

Its a pity that this place is not advertised any where.

Walking in the nature
Jul 2018 • Family
This zoo, around 15 mins by car from Pistoia centro, is a pretty place for families to visit. It is clean, animals are well cared for and also, one can feed small animals (like goats). Price is quite reasonable (15 Euro). Small children below 3 years do not pay.

There is also a recreation area with swings, a bar, and rest rooms.

Parking area is quite vast and free.

Lovely visit
Aug 2018 • Couples
Reasonable price (€15 euro each)
Animals looked well looked after (we're big animal lovers)
Loads of picnic areas and places to sit.
We were surprised by the variety of animals, they had everything from bears to giraffes and elephants. A lot of animals we haven't seen in UK zoos.
Would definitely recommend if you're an animal lover and in the area. Makes a nice change from the artistic and historical trips.
They rely on funding from visits so worth supporting.

Very nice
Jul 2018 • Couples
My girlfriend and I went to this Zoo on a very hot day in July 2018. A lot of parking place in front of the Zoo, very nice!
The price was very reasonable : 30 € for 2 adults.
Beautiful Zoo, nicely arranged, and some very nice animal although some weren’t in their enclosure, maybe because of the heat?
I really recommend it if you want to spend 2-3 hours in a couple or with your kids !

Nice experience !
Jul 2018 • Family
First time we have visited a Zoo abroad and I must confess it has been very pleasant.
My son (10y) and my wife are both animal lovers and they really enjoyed this activity, away from all cultural and medieval cities as Florence, Lucca, Pistoia ....
The zoo feels very natural and the animals are almost touchable .
The price was fair (15€ pp) and we browsed 3h in the park.
Worth to visit .
