This approximate 1 hour tour is quite educational with regard to the Etruscan, Roman and medieval uses of “The Rock” of Orvieto and its numerous caves. Trip Advisor should change the title of this to Orvieto Underground though as the tour is known. Facing the...More

We highly recommend taking the time to travel underground in Orvieto. The tunnels and caves are dusty and can be difficult at times to travel, BUT it was highly worth the effort of travelling on these paths that townspeople used thousands of years ago. We...More

The tour through the caves was clearly a highlight of our visit. The tour is offered in several languages and takes about 50 minutes, the tickets cost 6€ per person.

We visited Orvieto which is a larger town in central Italy. Built on cliff with many km of underground tunnels. Interesting view of life over thousands of years in this region.
