Overview
More
A dedicated family concern, the Natalini family have 6ha of prime Cervognano vineyards close to those of Boscarelli in the heart of the zone. Established back in the 1960s, they have been producing their own Vino Nobile since 1995. Some serious quality input by young Andrea Natalini and consultancy from Paolo Vagaggini is giving excellent results. Recent Vino Nobile has been 100% Sangiovese but good quality Colorino and Mammolo will be made use of for upcoming releases. Ageing (for 2 years) is in a mix of large oak and barriques. The quality of the fruit and concentration are hallmarks together with plenty of extract. A supple Riserva gets an extra years’ ageing with slightly greater use of barriques and adds more class, complexity and depth. Rosso is light but attractive. Very small amounts of a fine Vin Santo, Ada are also made with moderate sweetness, good intensity and a lively vein of acidity. Olive oil has good purity and intensity.

We were lucky enough to stay in the Poggio Golo Estate just down the road from this little, unassuming, winery. We popped in without a reservation and they were delighted we were there. The owner, who spoke little english, but really tried to interact with...More
