Serenity, History, Architecture and Harmony, Val d'Orcia at its best.
Sep 2020
What I can say is that if you are visiting Val d'orcia and you know what you can expect, this church with its beauty, its Renaissance architecture, its harmony and its harmonious insertion into the landscape represents the Val d'Orcia at its best.

A church not to be missed in Montepulciano
Aug 2020
Only saw it by night, waiting for our reservation at La Grotta restaurant which is just opposite. But the moon looked good on it :) Very interesting Renaissance church.

Beautiful setting for a beautiful church
Sep 2019
Just on the approach to Montepulciano, San Biagio is a MUST visit. Perched overlooking the valley back to Pienza, the balance and design of the church is very pleasing. Inside, they have affordable self guided recordings ...take the time to do it....and DO the "under the dome" tip they give you. Very cool. Beautiful architecture, art and views. VERY memorable.

Really wonderful church
Oct 2019 • Friends
This is so much bigger than it looks as you approach it. It is at the bottom of the hill which is different for a start since most are on the top and you have a steep climb to get to them. It is a Greek cross design so the four sections are the same length which means the dome is in the middle inside not towards one end. The acoustics are incredible and I would love to hear that organ being played there, or some Gregorian chant!

Stunning architecture and history. Take the audio tour which brings the church to life. Set outside of the town walls.

Loved this beautiful church in a lovely setting just outside the walls of Montepulciano. The interior is wonderfully maintained and the audio guide is very informative.

Stature & position unforgettable!

San Biagio is a not-to-be-missed cathedral near Montepulciano. The grounds and vistas are stunning; the church itself, architecture and interior, a masterpiece.

What an amazing building and history. Wow! Really reasonable entry price and included English hand held narrator. Amazing architecture and beautiful views. Long hill to walk from town in heat but burnt lots of calories!

A beautiful church with an excellent video guide
Aug 2019
San Biagio occupies a glorious spot just outside Montepulciano at the foot of the hill. From the other side of the valley you get a great perspective of the large church with the hill town in behind. The church, which was built in the early 1500s, is in excellent condition and very much worth visiting. Admission (10E for a family) includes an excellent video guide which lasts about 20 minutes or so. The interior has a huge, soaring dome with perfect acoustics underneath as well as beautiful carved arches. Only one tower was constructed and its interesting feature is that it is physically detached from the actually church. There's lots of free parking.

Magnificent church at the foot of Montepulciano
Jul 2019
There's a recently imposed modest admission charge but the complementary audioguide is good and the visit very appealing.
