Pleasant Wine Shop ....
Jun 2015 • Couples
You'll find that Montepulciano has more wine shops and Enoteca than just about anywhere else - they are proud of the Vino Nobile designation of their area - no Brunello here! We were recommended to this nice wine shop run by a family, not some faceless corporation. Enjoyed a fine tasting of vertical Vino Nobile, plus rosso and Vin Santo. Very extensive offerings in a warm and charming setting. ...

We shared about 1 hour at Vinoteca terra toscana and we thoroufully enjoyed our time with Fabio, and later his wife Barbara and their two daughters Alice and the little newborn Sara. The shop is in one of the most beautiful streets of wonderful Montepulciano, it is simply decorated and the focus is to share experiences with the knoledgeable owners. Two thumbs up!

We spent an afternoon tasting many different Tuscan wines and were astonished by the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff. We ended up staying for lunch and had great cheeses, meats, and service.

A place you can trust
May 2012 • Couples
We wanted to buy some montepulciano wine because of its great reputation but know only the basics about wine in this region. We went to another store that was incredily unhelpful and just shoved a couple of expensive wines at us, we bought one which I regret because a couple of seconds later we came across this store and decided to pop in because of the lively conversation they were having inside. At this store they took an incredible amount of time to explain the different wines to us, how they were produced and which wine to drink now or to store for later and recommended wines according to what we wanted that were much cheaper than some other wines they stored. In other words did not try to make a sale but cared about what we were looking for. Definitely ask to taste their white balsamic vinegar, it is heavenly and worth buying.

For great Tuscan wine go to Barbara and Fabio
Oct 2011
For years we are visiting the wine shop of Barbara and Fabio. They have a great collection of special wines and they can tell you so much about them that you always want to have more (and I do not regret that at all!!).

Wonderful hospitality and knowledgeable staff
Oct 2011 • Couples
Popped into Vinoteca yesterday and was treated to an excellent education on the local Montepulciano wine by Barbara. Don't be put off by the simple look of the shop front - you would be wrong not to spend a little time here.

We stayed for about 20 mins and during that time were provided 2 wines to taste. Barbara was wonderfully hospitable and patient, helping to explain what we were tasting based on our preferences which we described to her (since we had tasted a few different wines the night before, we mentioned these to her and from her expertise, she helped guide us to selecting the right wines for our tastebuds).

Barbara was lovely and a very genuine host. Felt like we had known her for ages by the time we left. She definitely hit the spot with the wine selections and we ended up buying one of them as it was a beautiful red (Politziano Vino Nobile 2008 - the san giovese grapes are blended with a touch of merlot to just take the edge off the tannins a touch, which makes the taste wonderfully smooth).

We can't wait to come back to Montepulciano and when we do we'll be popping by Vinoteca to say hello.

Friendly, Knowledgeable service
Jun 2011 • Couples
This shop is just off the main square. My wife and I visited and Barbara was in attendance. A decent but not huge selection of mainly Tuscan and other Italian wines. She had 3 bottles open for tasting. We tried a very good Rosso di Montalcino and a couple of Vino Nobile Montepulcianos. We also got to talking about Olive oils and sampled those too!

We struck up a casual conversation, and Barbara was friendly and knowledgeable. By that point, we had been to 3 other cellars for tasting, one of which was pleasant (Contucci), and 2 others that were really indifferent and snooty. So it was a nice change.

I would recommend a visit here if you are into tasting/buying wines and you are in Montepulciano

Very warm and unbiased advise on local wines
We got a very good support and advise from Barbara and Fabio on Nobile wines from Montepulciano. They clearly showed passion for products and outspoken opinions. Fair prices.

Terra Toscana is worth the trip
We visit different parts of Italy every year, but a stop in wonderful Montepulciano is mandatory. The atmosphere is wonderful, and Barabara and Fabio perfectly reflects this. They offer their great selection of the "King of table wines" with great knowledge of all vintages and are very helpful with shipments. Highly recommended!

A dream in paradise
If you bother to climbe the steep steps of Montepulciano you will be amply rewarded when close to the highest point of this wonderful city you discover the vinoteca of Barbara and Fabio. They have a stock of beautiful wines and take all the time to tell you about the different wines and vintages. I have been loyel client since many years and I can tell you that the city and its wines make you feel like you are in paradise. The shop is a dream hence my heading the dream in paradise to which you will want to come back often like I try to do
