Imagination, knowledge and deep roots. The Donnafugata wines are a passionate interpretation of Sicily and its sensorial universe. Donnafugata was created in Sicily by an enterprising family with 160 years’ experience in premium wines. The adventure began in the Rallo family’s historic cellars in Marsala in 1983 and at its Contessa Entellina vineyards in the heart of western Sicily. In 1989 Donnafugata arrived on the island of Pantelleria, starting to produce naturally sweet wines.

We have spent a couple of hours visiting their premises for a family trip. The place exudes history, tour guides are well prepared and wine excellent. Couple of remarks: price of products onsite is higher than outside, and bigger variety of accessories on sale would help the customer satisfaction.

A winery in the heart of Marsala; the owners the Rallo family make none of that of namesake as marsala wine was ditched from the product make in the 80s. This is a late 1880s marsala-intended winery refitted several times up to the modern; so clean, efficient, transmitting the message this family had and has vision telling you about its... More

They have several types of wine tastings, for which you have to register via their web-site. We participated at the Donnafugatatime tasting, which was professional, but somehow impersonal. Though you will taste also their bests among the wines, but still bit expensive for the quantity of what you get. Don't go, if you'd like to taste Marsala type wines, because... More

I booked the Mediterranean Tasting because on the website it says "You can choose 1 favorite label for each of the following categories Fresh and fruity whites Structured whites and fruity reds Intriguing and elegant reds Naturally sweet". However, I got no choice at all about what I tasted and they selected the four wines. In addition, both the wine... More

We opted for the Mediterranea wine tasting session in English. Paola was very good in explaining the wine cellar tour and the four different wines matched with typical sicilian dishes. The wines we tasted were very good, my favourite were La vigna di Gabry and Ben Rye. Since it was my birthday we were offered to try the Ben Rye... More
