The museum has a great collection of Carthaginian artefacts as well as Roman The is a short video showing the strategy of wars at sea using the galleys of that time. Pride of place is the remains of a Carthaginian ship that has been recovered...More

The Museo Archeologico Baglio Anselmi provides some great insights into the lives, artwork and technology of the ancient Carthaginians (Punics), Greeks, and Roman from around 600BC through to the 500AD. It is made up of several halls of beautifully presented artefacts of all shapes and...More

After a brief closure for renovations, the museum reopened this spring with a new set of displays and a new raised walkway that gives you a better view of the remains of the Punic ship. The surrounding displays are mainly from the same era and...More

The Punic warship and the building it is housed in are very impressive. There are some interesting items as well. The staff seem to know very little. Outside is completely overgrown, you'd need an over active imagination to make anything of it at all. A...More

Sicily is an island so full of ancient historical gems that anyone with the slightest interest in ancient civilisations simply must go there. You will find it difficult; you will be irritated by the neglect and unhelpfulness and the lack of documentation. But still go...More

this is a lovely museum/archeologico site at the foot of marsala. don't worry about crowds - we were the only two people there! but, that said, it was a very nice experience - and all for E4.00

We walked all thorough the city in beaming hot sunshine reaching the museum and the notice of it being closed. The notice referred us to a place that wasn't searchable on Google Maps and when we finally found the place (Lillibeo) all there was to...More

Everything of note is closed off to visitors, including the Punic ship. Marsala sounded better in the guide book than in real life, so the drive down followed by the museum were a real disappointment

The site is large but virtually empty. There is a partly exposed roadway, the remants of the floor of a baths and a museum. Almost all the information boards are blank and the museum has hardly any explanation in English. Not worth 4 euros!
