If you are in the area, this is a must to see. Very atmospheric and beautiful on a large scale. Nice shops and bars close by so easy to make a day of it.

An amazing church built around the Holy House of Mary. The art work in the chapels is often unique, including a stain glass window to the saints of the Americas. The marble facade on the holy house has some wonderful detail.

Words are not accurate enough when you visit Loreto. You will never imagine that there is such a big and impressive place in this small town. It is a must when you visit this area of Italy.

Sometimes reality (and history) is more adventurous than action movies, and this is certainly the case for the Sanctuary of the Holy House of Loreto. During the crusades the aristocratic Angeli family, which then reigned the kingdom of Epirus, somehow got hold of the three...More

The piazza was set up for some event with lots of people in cassocks and nuns pushing elderly people around in wheelchairs so there was lots of bustle and atmosphere. The cathedral itself is one of the better churches we have seen on our travels....More

Yes, you can actually enter the Holy House itself, which is a remarkable experience. You can linger and take it in (in silence). There are two exits, one behind the altar and one opposite where you entered. We actually went... More
