About
Located in an ancient house, the museum offers innovative tours to help tourists and locals alike to better understand this town history along with the energy and dynamics that led to the current present. “History” is not so far away, it is also what happened only yesterday and is likely to be more easily forgotten.

Well worth a visit. . .

If you have time pop in and take a look around. Be prepared to be asked to wear a hard hat. The beams and doors are very low.

A very interesting look at early life in the valley up to modern days. Information in English is very good. The local staff are happy to provide more info and share local knowledge if required.

A visit here won’t take too long but it’s way more rewarding than walking the high street in the cold.

Great to see how life used to be.

Great little museum showing the life before industrial and computer age. Took my 12 yo son who did not want to go because it would be ‘boring’. He was surprised how interesting and different the life was. The classic was the small sled with timber that children had to bring to school to put in the fireplace to keep the school warm during lessons. The modern kids have no comprehension how society constantly supports them and how easy the Life is for them..

Most people come to Livigno to ski but do you know when the ski resort started? How lived people in this area? This museum is very good place to enlarge your knowledge.

We found the museum to be very interesting and it showed in an excellent way how Livigno has developed during the years. It's not a big museum but they have really been able to use the space effectively and create a great exhibition. Absolutely worth a visit!

A must to visit the MUS museum, to see the past time life in the mountains, with many nice ancient objects who inform of pratical things of her tradition to work; you can visit all the rooms of the traditional country house;

Step back in time and learn about Livigno's transformation
Mar 2017 • Couples
From rural subsistence to tourist mecca, the lives of the people in this region have been drastically transformed in the last century. It's an interesting walk through a museum of country living. The descriptions are in Italian only so it's hard to figure some things out, but still worthwhile to spend an hour or so.

Travel back in time

We learned a lot about Livigno and its people by visiting the MUS. Livigno has a rich history with a interesting people and traditions.

We found however that a lot of the items only had handwritten notes in Italian on them, so we were left guessing a lot of the time as to their use and especially their age. The photographs were documented by year and was interesting to page through.

There is a guided tour available, which you must book prior and costs in the region of 8 euros. We opted to just walk through it and paid 3.50 euro pp. To get through the house took about an hour. There are some summaries written on the walls, to give you an idea of each rooms and their general use.

Worth a look if you are curios about history.

Great experience

If you are in Livigno, you must go to the museum of the village. Support good work of people who works there hard to keep history facts. You can pay the entrance if you want. People there are really amazing, they speak English excelent. We stay there more than we expected because it was really interesting.

MUS museum di Livigno , Hidden Gem in the centre of Livigno

The museum which tells the story of Livigno, its people and its traditions. In a succession of rooms, you will have the feeling of doing a journey that starts from the peasant roots a guided tour is recommended , compliments to ALICE MARTINELLI my guide of the day , great place to visit for all the family ,the tour takes you to the tourist boom and the construction of the first skiing facilities. A time span of less than a century, in which the valley has experienced a radical change that you can see at first hand thanks to this new facility. Museum Entrance is free but a donation will be appreciated .
