Of thevtwo, i much prefered this gate, maybe because of its larger size, but also because it looked more decorative than the other two gates.again, nice colour in the sun and photogenic. Worth the walk to get there.
Excellent gateway to the city and lovely to see this, great decorative coat of arms and well. Lovely to just wander through, cars pass through over to the right hand side but really quite a large structure apparently built in 1548!
A beautiful entrance to the city, it was erected as a monument to Charles V who protected and increased the defences of Lecce.

This was our way into the city from our hotel.....carefully around the obelisk avoiding the stream of cars and bikes on the busy inner-ring.....then through thus imposing arch.
Then this ancient city is yours to walk. Enjoy!
