This gateway into Lecce is rather attractive. The colour of the stone is lovely in the sun. The carving is good, although some are quite worn. Nonetheless seen alongside the adjoining remains of the walls it looks good.

Great place to start your visit to the old town, there's free street parking on the surrounding streets which is rare in Italy.

Walk through these gates and stroll among the crowds past churches, street vendors, cafes, pizzerias, snack bars, restaurants, shops. Mincle with the crowds, stop to enjoy an icecream or a snack. A sense of history as you walk in the present.

Oldest among the three still standing city gates. It is the most conveniently closed to the baroque sights in Lecce and plenty of bars/eateries in the streets around.
