Ducks vs. golfer
Feb 2016 • Couples
Good layout of a course and normally in good conditions. The only downfall is the presence of duck droppings on the fairways. Beautiful creatures, but not on a golf course. The restaurant is top notch and good value for money. Any time recommended.

Place you will remember
May 2013 • Friends
We played Grado in May and was in perfect condition. It was not only lesson of precise playing (water all around) but also of nature life. Group of dug parents and kids accompanied us all the time. And food prepared by chef Luigi in cosy club house was also something!!! Excelent fit with white Friulano wine made in this region. Many thanks Ivan, Michaela and Marko.

Excellent golf course and practice facilities.
Sep 2012 • Family
Book tee times in the friendly pro-shop. Practice on the driving range, putting green and chipping area. Also seemed to be a separate 'pitching area' - best facilities I've seen! There is a 9-hole "Executive" course which I was warned by the staff was a little dry and bare, so I couldn't complain to find it in that state. Was still good practice for a golfer of my ability. Played the 18-hole "Championship" course, which was the best course I have played. Challenging, but with excellent greens. I had 3 half-hour lessons with the club pro (Luigi), who although struggled with English, used video analysis, and offered some excellent tips. When on a few shots I did everything that he advised, I was able to hit further than I had before! Overall, I cannot fault this golf club.

Already a fine course that should get even better.
May 2011 • Business
For most British golfing holidaymakers, Grado is off the radar. The Italian lakes, Piedmont and Tuscany gobble up the vast majority which is a real shame as Grado has so much to offer overlooking the salty reed beds of the Adriatic coastline, not least some of the finest food and wines to be found at a golf club anywhere in the world lovingly prepared by master chef, Luigi Zago.

And the course is no basic holiday track either with some terrific views across to the monastery island of Barbana and holes to challenge the best. When owner Ivan Marzola took back the course from a hotel leasing group it was in a sorry state but a lot of hard work has already been done to restore it to a high standard. The purist may find the greens a little slow but Marzola, a five handicapper, and his team are working extremely hard to get these back to a top class finish within the next couple of years.

And already there is so much to enjoy. This is a course to plot your way round and certainly needs playing twice before you can fully appreciate the subtlety and challenges that lie ahead. Stand out holes are two par fives, the third and the 17th, but with much water and some tight fairways, especially on the back nine this is a course that will test the lowest handicaps and is no place for a raw beginner. For them there is a short 'executive' course to enjoy.

Provided the present level of maintenance is continued by golf director Marko Prekic and his colleagues Grado is somewhere that the Britsh golfing traveller should certainly visit and will definitely enjoy, being able to combine some super golf with historic sights and gastronomic delights not to be bettered anywhere. And the Friulian white wines are the perfect antidote if your game has been off or to celebrate with if things have gone well. Take my tip, and head for Grado!
